The Education Fund has instituted the "refundable deposit" in order to ensure that members who sign up for courses make every effort to actually complete the courses. The amounts for the "refundable deposit" will be based on course hours and are substantially less than the actual cost of similar courses taken outside of the union (and you get your deposit back when you complete the union course).
If circumstances arise where an enrollee may have to withdraw from a class, a refund may be made on a case by case basis.
Request for a refund must be submitted in writing, to the Workplace Literacy Program Coordinator. Lack of attendance does not constitute withdrawal and eligibility for a refund.
