Benefits in Brief:

Did you know you have a Podiatry Benefit? As part of your retiree supplemental benefits from the union, you have a Podiatry Benefit for the retiree and spouse.  The Podiatry Benefit covers up to $10.00 a visit for a maximum of four visits per calendar year. To obtain this benefit, call the Fund Office for a Podiatry Claim Form.  The podiatry benefit cannot be claimed on the General Medical Reimbursement benefit.  The form must be submitted within 90 days of the date of service. You can call the Benefit Fund Office at (212)966-5353 to obtain forms.

Wednesday May 2-The EQUIFAX Breach!!!-You may have heard that one of the three credit reporting companies that holds all of the data regarding your entire credit history was breached in October.  Come to the third-floor computer lab to find out if your data was compromised, and if so, how to put a lock on your account to reduce or eliminate the likelihood that your identity can be stolen. This is a very easy process that we will do with you. Time:10:00am-2:00pm


Thursday May 3-Retiree Benefit Overview-Join us for an open discussion regarding benefits including Medicare, your NYC retirement health coverage, supplemental benefits or any questions you have. A complete benefit overview of the CWA Local 1180 supplemental benefits will be provided along with a general question and answer session of all benefits. Time:11:00 am -1:00 pm

Monday May 7-Optical Benefit Provider-Vision Screening-Laurice Phillips from Vision Screening, one of your no cost providers will provide an overview of optical benefits. A presentation by Seth Polan, Optometrist, will discuss issues that may affect vision as you age.  Time: 10:30am- 12:00pm   Refreshments provided

However as they settle in, they discover how much they may need to give up in order to really belong. Thursday May 10 - Photography Trip Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt at Hyde Park, NY-The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site contains "Springwood", FDR's lifelong home. Also on the site is the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum. Enjoy a guided tour of FDR's home, take a self-guided tour of the Museum and stroll the grounds, gardens, and trails of this 300-acre site. Entrance Fee: $20.00

WE ARE MEETING 9:15am AT GRAND CENTRAL STATION AND TAKING THE 9:43AM TRAIN TO POUGHKEEPSIE. Round trip fare: $24.50 (seniors), $37 (Adults). We will share cabs to the site (10 mins ride). Returning on the 3:54 from Poughkeepsie to GCT.

Wednesday May 16-Shopping, Paying and even (gasp!) Banking Online! How to do it SAFELY-Question: "Do I have to use my credit card online?" Answer: NO! There other ways to pay! Learn how to buy and pay bills online without giving strangers your private information. Time: 10:00am-2:00pm


Wednesday May 16 -Wine & Chocolate Luncheon-Enjoy a Journey of creating great chocolate, from the families who grow the cocoa beans, to the chocolatiers who master its flavor, to what enchants your personal palette! You will have a chocolate and wine pairing while having a wonderful lunch.  Location: Rhinecliff Hotel, Rhinecliff NY Price: $65.00 Departure time 8:30am Approximate return time: 6:30pm.


Thursday May 17-Ask A Pharmacist-A pharmacist from American Health Care, the union prescription plan,  will be here to answer  questions concerning differences between generic and brand prescriptions plus more! Bring a list of all medications you are on and dosage to see if there are conflicts.

Friday May 18 -Restaurant Club-Paris Café– Located in the Historic South Street Seaport, steps away from the Brooklyn Bridge and right across the street from the East River, The Paris Café (1873) is the oldest bar in the neighborhood with a perfect blend of history and good food. Wednesday May 23-Taking Selfies that Do You Proud!-Learn how to take a GOOD selfie with your smartphone, tablet or even camera, use a selfie-stick (street vendors sell them for $5), and upload your pics to Facebook, Instagram, etc. IN CLASSROOM AND OUTDOORS.Time: 10:00am-2:00pm


Wednesday May 30-So,What Do I Do With All these Photos I took with my Smartphone?-Learn how to share your pictures, save them to your computer, post on Facebook, and even PRINT them! (You need an email address, and must know your password.) Time:10:00am-2:00pm


Thursday May 31 - Photography Trip to Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park in Oyster Bay, Long Island-This 400 acre Gold Coast estate named Planting Fields was the home of William Robertson Coe. Now a state park, it includes the 67-room Coe Hall Historic House Museum and an arboretum with greenhouses, gardens, woodland paths, and outstanding plant collections. The Coffeed Garden Café features homemade food including sandwiches, soups, fabulous pastries, beer, wine and speciality roast coffees. Admission fee is “$8.00 per car” which we will divvy up. WE ARE MEETING 10:00AM AT PENN STATION (7th Ave & 33RD st.) and taking the 10:38 LIRR TRAIN TO OYSTER BAY (transfer at Jamaica). Fare EACH WAY: $9.75 (adults), $6.75 (seniors). From there we will share cabs to the park (est. fare $4 per person, each way.) RETURN TRIP: 4:20PM Train to Penn Station.
